This section is a great place to start if you are looking to begin working herbal medicine into your life!
Below you will find a small group of herbs and such that belong in everyone's home! They are easy to find and are often in your neighborhood grocery store! Buy organic when you can. Keep reading below on basic ways you can use these to help you be well naturally!
Peppermint!
Any mint actually is great but there is something about peppermint that is amazing! It is easy to grow in your garden or just in a small pot in your kitchen. You can also find some either fresh or dried in your grocery store. Just note that, as with any herb, dry is more potent in flavor so keep that in mind! You can, in a pinch keep mint tea bags in your pantry for emergencies. Mint may be helpful for the relief of nausea, gas, anxiety, menstrual pain, chills, headache and body aches. Wonderful for kids and adults. Take it as a tea (hot or chilled) or tincture or even as simple as chewing on a fresh leaf if you have them handy!
Chamomile!
This wonderful herb is so easily found in teabag form in any grocery store. It can be grown in your garden as well, it is so cheery with it's little yellow flowers! Chamomile is well known for its calming effects so it could help with insomnia as well as anxiety. It is a diuretic, digestive stimulant and anti-inflammatory. Chamomile is also great topically for help with a sty in your eye or sore gums. Otherwise a tea is a great way to use this little healing flower!
Thyme!
Another one you may actually have in your pantry already and use it for flavoring your food! Did you know thyme has anti-inflammatory, antiperspirant, antiseptic and so much more. It can help with bad breath, gum irritation, foot odor, skin irritation, and the best one I can attest to is using it to help move phlegm and congestion in the chest. It is an expectorant and can help if you need to get a cough moving! It can be used in topical preparations as well as a strong tea to help move that cough along!
