Well, cold and flu season is obviously in full swing by now. I wouldn't know though, we have not been sick yet! I had the start of a cold a couple of weeks back but kicked that immediately. I hear stories of how bugs and flu and cold viruses are running through people's households taking with them everyone in their path. How does one naturally avoid this? Many ways...
Eat better - duh! More veggies will be a great start. Simple right? Eat at least one big salad a day and eat lots of veggies with dinner. Cut your sugar intake - if you are eating a small chocolate here and there that is OK but when you pump yourself and your kids with sugar-laden Gatorade drinks, cookies, candy, soda, etc... it will lower the immune system's capability to help keep you from getting sick. Do not prevent it from doing it's job - period. Drink water, tea and homemade bone broth. Lots of soups with lots of spices, beans, rice...mmmmmmm! Also - take daily doses of Elderberry syrup, Echinacea and Elderberry tinctures, and of course Fire cider/Master tonic is a must in every household. Check out my Facebook page notes section for recipes for these. Add extra vitamin C and exercise to the mix, wash your hands with regular soap and water and avoid those crazy anti-bacterial gels - there ya go! Healthy as a horse! :) Below are pictures from the straining of my last batch of fire cider which sat for 6 weeks and is ready to go. I keep two smaller bottles in my bathroom medicine drawer and the extra in my medicine closet with my herbs. Enjoy and stay healthy!
