It is still Summer according to the turning of the year but it feels like Autumn today! There is a chill in the air and tons of things being harvested! Socks are starting to appear on my feet, longer yoga pants being chosen over capri style, pumpkin spice soap in the works...
Last night Dan pulled all the plums and we ended up making a Plum Lemon sorbet and freezing the slices from the ones we did not use so that for Thanksgiving we can make a plum sauce for the turkey! I am gathering the gorgeous Goldenrod from the back woods to replenish my Goldenrod tincture for those who suffer from allergy symptoms, mugwort, ragweed, mints and sage all being dried. Tomatoes winding down, getting ready for the big sauce making next month. Pears are getting ready to be harvested soon and made into....? Who know, I'll wing in when they are ready! The concord grapes are looking fruitful and getting stronger. We have also done pumpkins for the first time this year. We have 5 that look great, starting to turn orange now and hopefully they will be ready to carve and give up their seeds for our pleasure! And by the end of next month we will be harvesting roots from the Dandelions, Horseradish and Echinacea. Fall is a great time to reevaluate stuff that is going on in your life as well, those goals you set at the beginning of the year; time to check in with those and make changes if needed. It is also a great time to start new things as well. Check in soon with the Apothecary Shop as new things will be popping up! It will soon be time to decorate to house with Autumn and Halloween goodness! Happy Fall!
