Happy Spring, Y'all!
It is been such a busy time! Everything is coming up and kids are growing fast. Our six baby goats were born 5 weeks ago and they are growing, literally, by leaps and bounds! Each mom had twins and they are all getting ready to move to their new homes soon. Once they are off the milk and learn to eat hay and drink from a water bucket they are on their way! One to two more weeks should do it! The garden is gearing up and looking a lot less barren these days and the fruit trees are bloomin'! Before you know it herbs will be hung up to be dried so that powerful medicine can be made. I am looking forward to replenishing my tincture drawer. The broad and narrow leaf plantain that grown in your yard makes a great poultice when you get bit - just pick a piece (from your non-chemically treated lawn), chew it up and slap it on, you can take your spring nettles and cook them up or dry them for a daily infusion, Camille will eventually be needing goldenrod for her mild allergy symptoms and the catnip always comes in handy with upset or nervous tummies. Dandelions are in full swing right now - please do not spray your yards! Why would you want to kill a colorful, useful flower. This plant can be used from head to root for numerous things. Dandelion flower petals make a lovely jelly, the popped off heads dipped in batter make a delicious fritter and the roots make powerful medicine for liver and gall bladder health and also makes a great coffee substitute! The leaves contain a significant amount of vitamin A and make a good addition to a meal. And there is so much more... Check out my Yoga tab for updates on events at local places as well as my Crystals tab for workshops! The Herbs tab will keep you up to date as far as products made from out goat milk and our own grown herbs! I do hope to start doing some videos and posting them on my YouTube channel. There will be some on yoga, herbs and crystals! Enjoy your spring and I hope to connect with you soon!
